A girl's gotta shop

A trip to Hanmer after work last night (and a soak in those pools - glorious!) made the trip to the Culverden Fete today a short one.  Beautiful day in the sun and a really good vibe.  No wonder it's world-famous-in-NZ.

I had to pick up a few things... my favourite being my new bag.  LOVE the colours.

Put the Fete in your diary for next year... definitely worth the trip!

For one night only...

Luxcity opened the Festival of Transitional Architecture in Christchurch last night.  I wish I'd got a little closer for some of these photos, as they don't do it justice... but it was so cool.  Go Christchurch ... things like this make me very excited about the future of my city.  Pretty amazing to see such crowds out too - it gave a real festival vibe to the event.

Who said there's nothing to do in Chch?

There've been no photos for a bit, not because I've had nothing to take photos of... just I've been busy.  This week in particular I've been to see Billy Bragg, gone to the Acoustic Church Tour - two nights of music, both very different, both superb... and last night I went to dinner at the Spanish Tapas bar in Sumner, Almeida's and then went in to look at the LUXCITY display that kicks off the 10 day Festival of Transitional Architecture.

So, once again a catch up blog... starting with my favourite photo (apart from my chins!) with a legend.

The Bard and Me
An educational, entertaining night of music.  Something powerful about just one man and a guitar, there's no room for pretension.

Next up ... The Acoustic Tour.  Never been in St Michael's church before - it is beautiful, but boy those seats are hard!  Beautiful music from three beautiful women, Anika Moa, Boh Runga and Hollie Smith... and a spine tingling finale of "Bathe In The River" that won't be forgotten in a hurry.  Sorry, I have used the word beautiful too many times.  Stunning would also be appropriate!

Right that's it for this post... the next one is going to have more photos so I'll start fresh for LUXCITY.

Football was the winner...

Wandered around to the Gap Filler soccer pitch after work today in Hereford St, opposite the Ibis Hotel.  Shame it was cold, but at least the sun was shining and the folks playing seemed to be having a good time.  Incredible... did you ever think you'd see a football pitch in the middle of broken buildings?

I love Gap Filler's work - lots of creative things - often one-offs, blink and you miss... but always cool.  And they say there's nothing to do in Christchurch!

Wednesday 10th

Gorgeous day in Chch yesterday... went for a wander at lunchtime and see the corner buildings at the strip end are finally being demolished.   Bye bye to the Tap Room (left corner building).

Yeh Yeh, Sunday 7th

The cliche is true... you can't beat Wellington on a good day... ice-cream on Oriental Parade

Saturday 6th photo

Went for a whirlwind trip to Wellington to see the World of Wearable Arts.  Cameras not allowed when show started, but I sneaked this one of the stage (jazz band warming us up) when we first took our seats.  FANTASTIC show.... if you can, go see!

That's Entertainment

A night out at the CBS Arena, with Bill Bailey.  Pure class.  Great start to October!
