Some bright red tulips with a gorgeous dark centre along the roadside today when I went on my walk.

Taken at dusk with a little filtering added, the old train station really does look like an apocalypse site.

Walked to the car today after work and noticed a great big white round thing (dunno when it went up, hadn't noticed it earlier!!) ... went for a closer investigation.... it's a giant Ball, Inspector! 100%.

Another cool wall

These little musicians weren't on this wall last week - the wall of Beggs Music Centre's on Colombo Street, viewed from Tuam Street, with some grooving silhouettes.

Now that's a cool wall!

Tradestaff have moved into corner of Colombo & St Asaph and have had a wicked wall reflecting the business painted on the back of their building - very cool!

Project time...

or... re-assessing my priorities!  It's that spring time feel.  One of the first things is to improve the ratio of photos to days for the rest of the year!  So in that spirit, the first photo is my planning shot.

A foggy start to the day - thick, thick fog.  Tonight coming home it was torrential rain.  Ah spring, you are so unpredictable.

Finally...

I've been walking to St Asaph Street from work daily for over nine months now... and this building (I think the old Mill Theatre in Tuam St?  Correct me if I'm wrong) has looked pretty sad.  Finally the diggers have moved in, and you can see the damage in the middle part quite clearly now... Lots of bricks being recycled, I hope!

So, the funeral was Saturday, and it was at the Catholic Cathedral up Rattray Street.  Years ago, when I lived there, the Bishop's house was across the road from the Cathedral... Now it is...

They're in Wellington too, now... but this Christchurch institution is one of the consistently good breakfast places in town!  Hereford Street long gone, but Riccarton still soldiers on!

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night

Blimey, what is it about the 4th September Mother Nature?  Tried to get a photo of the lightening, but just don't have a fancy enough camera... then came the noise, you could hear it approaching from half a kilometre away... then it arrived with window breaking velocity (didn't, thankfully but my south facing windows do not have any protection and they were getting blasted).... the hail.

I ventured to the doorway and reached out for a hailstone... some as big as golfballs - sorry about the blur.

It's been a funny day... only really warmed up in the last hour or so as the sun has come down underneath the nor'west arch.

Spring!

It's official, the first day of spring.

Let's hope I can get back into the groove - last month was a shocker for photos.  Sorry. 

BUT!  It's all about spring today.  I've already taken photos of daffodils, so today is a shot of the first buds on my dwarf star magnolia opening!  Exciting, it's only its second year of growth so there are a lot more buds this year.  I think the magnolia is beautiful, I went for the dwarf star one in my garden due to the fact I only have a small place.
