Tea For Two...

Did you know tea could be so pretty?  I went to a Tea and Food Matching evening tonight.

Wooden Hub

Sorry about the poor quality shot - I was in the car and at lights so it was hurried!!!  The "technology hub" being built on the corner of Manchester & St Asaph Streets is starting to take shape.

Clarendon Days Are Over...

A cold grey lunchtime, looking over at the Clarendon, which seems to have really started to come down quickly.  Amazing cranes - "Big Red" at work on this one.

A Changed Street

Cashel Street really is changed forever.  The last remnants of the Triangle Centre remain - just windows to the blank on the other side.  When this is gone, it will be one big wide open space.

Blooming Lovely

With the nor'west pushing the temperature into double digits, I got out into the garden today, planted my garlic, weeded the vege patch... and took a photo of the baby camellia which has finally started to bloom.

It Could Be A Flying Circus

Above the BNZ tonight the cranes were everywhere, this scene made me think of flying contraptions and a flying circus!

All the more blue sky to be seen.

The sun made a welcome return to Christchurch today - and with it came blue skies.  The BNZ (Square) demo is progressing and will soon not be visible over the container mall - soon it will just be a sky sky-line!

Friday Night!

Cold, wet, 5 degrees.  Not the weather to go photographing the city.  Not in the mood to cook, but trying to be good... so here's the home made takeout pizza - spinach, feta, yellow capsicum, red onion and my own tomato chutney from my preserving efforts (previously photographed!).  Dinner's ready!!!

A New Re:Start

The new North-West Precinct of Re:Start Cashel Mall is well underway... the ASB has moved sideways to make room...

Meanwhile, On The Other Side of Colombo St

They started pulling this down from the High St side - now they're making way on the Cashel Street side, and at the bottom edge of the shot, the Triangle Centre, which you can see right through - won't be long until it's completely gone.

Seasons In The Sun

Snow and surf!   This was on the roadside as I went for a crispy cold walk in the -2 degree sunshine!

Business As Usual

Although a little snow remains around the streets (and in my backyard).... life has got back to "normal"... demolition on this Tuam Street building continues.

Frozen Rose

The snow got my Jubilee Rose - it was bent double with the weight of the snow.  I think it will survive.  Day 2 and it's still 3 inches deep in the backyard.

That Roof Leaks!

Sorry about the quality - boy was it dark when I left work tonight - that forecasted weather is on its way!  So a slightly dark shot tonight.  My intended shot was of the Westpac or BNZ buildings but with no lights in the centre of town and being this dark, you wouldn't see them, so I had to use the lighting from the carpark to take this one ... my roofless building's roof is now just a skeleton.

This wee tree looks old before its time, but really, it's just weathered, and trying hard to cling on to the last gasps of autumn... even though we're now 4 days into winter!

A Walk On The North Side

I work on the south side of the square and a lot of my photos are from the demo/rebuild work in that area. Today I took a walk to the north side... quite a few photos ensue, so it's not just a "photo of the day" today.

This is my building with a door... it's been open and shut.  Now it's roofless.  Looks like the demo job is underway.  We might get back some of the carpark when that is complete.
